What you should know?
Saxenda is a medication that’s FDA-approved for chronic weight management. It is a once daily, self-injectable medicine. It can be taken at any time of the day and is usually injected just under the skin in your stomach area or thigh. It can help you successfully lose weight and works best when taken in combination with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. This therapy is currently approved for use in adults with a BMI of 30 kg/m2 or higher. It can also be used in adults with a BMI of 27 kg/m2 and have at least one of the following health conditions; Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol levels. Saxenda helps promote weight loss by keeping food in your stomach longer, causing you to feel full and not eat as much as you otherwise would. This is also known as delayed gastric emptying. Saxenda also regulates your appetite, which can lead to eating fewer calories. Adults who take Saxenda® will know if it’s working for them if they lose 4% of their body weight by their 4-month follow-up appointment.
